5 DAYS SOLO BUSHCRAFT AND SURVIVAL
5 days camping and bushcraft with a survival challenge. I haven’t done much survival training but one thing that’s been bothering me with books on the topic is they are not realistic. Things take too long to do. The kokstock (boil log) I knew would work. It was a lot more time consuming, calorie burning, than the previous bark container I heated water in before on the channel, but this would be a much better long term solution. The bark containers only give you water one time. Then they start to leak etc. The kokstock would probably work for a year at least. But the fishing with the simple bark strip as line worked better than I thought. I noticed right away the fish started to bite once I dipped the whole rig in there. I had no sinker. The fish didn’t seem to care about having the whole rod down there. Didn’t deter them. The thickness of the bark actually helped me see it down there in the dark water, so when I saw it move to the side when the fish bite I knew when to counter pull the rod. Improvements? I would next time make the “hook” somewhat shorter and thinner. It took at least 4 hours to get those fishes. Challenge worked good. Slept a few hours but of course not well rested under that spruce. It was very warm the first day when I worked the log. About 31 degrees celsius (which is a lot for me). Have never been so thirsty in my life when I finally got water from the log. Thanks for watching!
