I have a firearms question for the open country folks.

I had the epiphany that I don't need a long-range rifle because I live in the Eastern woodlands. The furthest shot I'll ever have to make is less than 300 yards.

Let's visualize a worst case scenario disaster for the folks that live in open country states like North Dakota or Arizona. I imagine your primary s h t f rifle has to be capable of relatively long-range shooting.
