This has been my thinking. I'm kind of in the same boat. I grow far more food than I can eat, even sell some. Preserve bunches and still buy a high percentage of my food. There are many things I just don't grow efficiently and/or just don't grow in my zone. I cultivate more than an acre but don't produce food on it continuously.
