I see alot of .22lr efficianados boast that it is the best survival caliber. While .22lr enjoys some major, major benefits i want to challenge the commonly held notion that it is a capable caliber for large game hunting.

I've taken deer with break barrel air rifles so I have no doubt a .22lr would work just fine- but I want to talk about the realities of headshotting large game with a .22lr.
