Anyone DIY portable bullet proofing for residences?

I live in a typical house, with normal walls, drywall and some insulation. If you've ever shot sheet rock or wood at the range you know this offers very little ballistic protection even against low power rounds like .22 or 9mm, let alone rifle fire.
